«Desde 1996 haciendo fotografía. Nunca pisé una escuela, ni de arte ni de fotografía.
Solo me dediqué a mirar, observar, digerir, vomitar, amar y odiar la fotografía… y aún sigo haciéndolo, todo.
No hay currículum. No me interesa el de nadie, y menos el mío. No me importan exposiciones, premios ni títulos.

Solo mira las fotos. No necesitas más.

No busco la perfección. Me interesa lo que falla, lo que se niega a morir, lo que no encaja.
A veces provoco la imagen. A veces solo ocurre.
Hay días que detesto la fotografía. Días en los que quemaría todo. Y otros en los que me salva. Y la salvo.
No me interesa quién eres, de dónde vienes ni qué haces cuando cierras esta web.
Solo me interesa lo que sientes mientras estás aquí.
Y si quieres contármelo, hazlo.

«Since 1996 I’ve been making photographs. I never set foot in any school—neither art nor photography. I simply dedicated myself to looking, observing, digesting, vomiting, loving, and hating photography… and I’m still doing it, all of it.
There’s no résumé. I’m not interested in anyone’s, least of all mine. Exhibitions, awards, or titles don’t matter to me.

Just look at the photos. You don’t need anything else.

I’m not after perfection. I’m interested in what fails, what refuses to die, what doesn’t fit. Sometimes I provoke the image. Sometimes it just happens.
There are days I hate photography. Days I’d burn it all down.And others when it saves me. And I save it.
I don’t care who you are, where you come from, or what you do once you close this site.
I only care about what you feel while you’re here.
And if you want to tell me, go ahead.

Ben Rawman es un fotógrafo con un recorrido personal y profesional que se ha desarrollado fuera de los circuitos mediáticos durante las tres últimas décadas, centrado en el retrato y la exploración de la identidad.

Durante años combinó la creación con la docencia, liderando una escuela de fotografía que formó a varias generaciones y consolidó su propia visión sobre la práctica visual. Esa etapa, intensa y exigente, no solo definió su estilo, sino que alimentó la madurez de su mirada y la profundidad de su archivo.

Su obra, presentada ahora públicamente a través de varios proyectos, persigue la verdad emocional y la presencia más que la perfección técnica. Trabaja principalmente en blanco y negro, con poca intervención posterior, sin condicionar la imagen a las capacidades de la herramienta, pensando en la herramienta como parte activa del resultado final y buscando que cada imagen comunique directamente lo que vio y sintió, sin artificios.

Rawman ha decidido abrir su archivo y dar visibilidad a su trabajo como parte de un proceso de consolidación y legado, ofreciendo una mirada honesta, directa y sin concesiones. Cada proyecto, cada serie, refleja su coherencia visual y su compromiso con la fotografía como forma de conocimiento y de comunicación profunda.

Ben Rawman is a photographer whose personal and professional path has evolved outside mainstream circuits over the past three decades, focusing on portraiture and the exploration of identity.

For years, he combined creative practice with teaching, leading a photography school that trained several generations and helped define his own vision of visual practice. That period—intense and demanding—not only shaped his style but also deepened the maturity of his eye and the richness of his archive.

His work, now presented publicly through several projects, seeks emotional truth and presence rather than technical perfection. He works mainly in black and white, with minimal post-processing, allowing the image to remain unconditioned by the tool’s capabilities. For Rawman, the camera is an active part of the final result—each image aims to convey directly what he saw and felt, without artifice.

Rawman has decided to open his archive and make his work visible as part of a process of consolidation and legacy, offering an honest, direct, and uncompromising vision. Each project, each series, reflects his visual coherence and his commitment to photography as a form of understanding and profound communication.
